‘Black Sabbath’ is a track that deserves a review of its own, but space is limited here, so we move on to the upbeat groove of ‘The Wizard’, complete with Ozzy’s wheezy harmonica intro. It’s another example of how heavy rock should be; blessed with a catchy riff, almost jazzy-drum arrangement and Geezer Butler’s apocalyptic bass. For the last track, 'Swinging the Chain', Bill Ward once again takes over the lead vocals, and does a decent job with a song that sounds a little more like a late 70's King Krimson (another band I greatly admire) than Black Sabbath. Again, not bad, but not really Black Sabbath. The Sanctuary remaster has some problems, unfortunately.
Apr 24, 2023 · The album also honored the band's original lineup with Dio-led versions of Sabbath classics like "Paranoid," "War Pigs," "Iron Man," and "N.I.B." Alas, the lineup split before the album was released. Iommi and Butler continued as Black Sabbath, while Dio and Appice left to record Dio's solo debut, Holy Diver. Still, it wasn't the final chapter
Sep 4, 2022 · Review Summary: Very enjoyable but ultimately pedestrian. In the grand scheme of Black Sabbath, 1994’s Cross Purposes feels almost like an afterthought. The vacuum caused by Dio’s sour departure was filled by the eternally beleaguered Tony Martin, but this album doesn’t have the same vibe as Headless Cross or Tyr.

Jun 2, 2023 · Old classics like ‘N.I.B.’, ‘Black Sabbath’ and ‘War Pigs’ are given a new coat of paint, their ferocity touched with class as this line-up replaces the Midlands Mania and cackle of O.O. with the grander and more commanding tones of R.J.D. but it’s the newer material where the diminutive powerhouse excels the most.

This year marks the fiftieth anniversary of so many classic rock albums. One of which is the last masterpiece from the original Ozzy era of Black Sabbath – namely Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.

Release Date: 1981 | Tracklist. Review Summary: A worthy, underrated follow-up to Heaven and Hell. Heaven and Hell was the first Black Sabbath album without vocalist and founding member Ozzy Osbourne. Nevertheless, it served as a new chapter for the band, with a new style that was a much needed breath of fresh air after two sub-par albums.
